Law Library Emergency Plan
Please refer to the Law Library Emergency Plan, linked below, in any emergency.
General
Fire/Door Alarm
In the event of a fire, your personal safety is the primary concern. If you discover a fire, do not attempt to put it out. Instead, pull one of the fire alarms, and if time permits, call the security officer on duty. Any time the fire alarm sounds, everyone must leave the library- not leaving during a fire or drill is an honor code violation. If safety permits, make one lap around the library to ensure there are no students left in the study rooms or carrels. Leave the building and congregate with others away from the building in the grassy area in front of the Criminal Justice building.
If one of the four emergency exits in the library (located in the corners leading to the stairwells) gets activated by someone attempting to open the door, an alarm will sound. The security guard will come up and deactivate the alarm. If the guard does not appear, call the guard desk ASAP.
Patron Safety
It is the policy of the Law Library to have an employee at the Service Desk during all public hours of operation. If you witness an accident or any activity that puts a patron in danger, please contact the security guard and notify an Access Services staff member immediately.
