Law Library Service Desk Manual: Circulation Procedures

Logging into Alma

You will log into Alma using the link: https://nccentral.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/SAML, and will be authenticated through the university system with prompts to log in using your MyEOL username and password.

Circulating Items

The First Rule of Circulation is PAY ATTENTION.
The Second Rule of Circulation is PAY ATTENTION.

Sometimes the scanner will be malfunctioning or you will be quicker than the scanner. Watch the screen to make sure every item is properly checked out and in.  There are often extra pop-ups that appear that must first be cleared manually before continuing with the scanner. If you forget to do this, then it is likely the next item you scan will not be recorded.

Never just give material to a patron, including faculty. Every item must be checked out whether it is for “in library use only” or to take home.  If the scanner malfunctions, input the barcode by hand. If Alma is totally down for some reason, speak to an Access Services staff member and use Alma's Offline Circulation module.

Be sure to tell the patron when the item is due.
