Non-NCCU Patrons

We will occasionally have patrons from other institutions, including public patrons, who will visit the Law Library. Most of these patrons may use the library's materials in the library only. The only exception to this is TRLN patrons.

Faculty, staff, or students from Duke, NCSU, or UNC-Chapel Hill may check out items directly from the Law Library, provided they have a valid university ID on them.

If the students have never checked out items directly from the Law Library before, you will need to register them in Alma. Follow the directions in the first tab on this page for registering new users in Alma. For Primary ID, enter the barcode on the back of their ID, or if they do not have a barcode, you can use their phone number. TRLN members should be listed under the following User Groups:

  • DUKEFAC (Faculty)
  • DUKEUNGRAD (Undergraduate Students)
  • DUKEGRAD (Graduate Students)
     
  • UNCCH-FAC (Faculty)
  • UNCCH-GRAAD (Graduate Students)
  • UNCCHUGRAD (Undergraduate Students)
     
  • NCSUFAC (Faculty)
  • NCSUGRAD (Graduate Students)
  • NCSUUNGRAD (Undergraduate Students)

Make sure you record both an email address and a phone number in the address tab, to ensure we can contact the patron about overdues or any other issues.
