The Law & Technology Certificate students created the Law & Technology Student Organization in August 2022. The founding officers are Todd Ford, Jr. (President), Malcolm Lewis (Vice President), Stephanie Lindor (Director of Communications), Kiarra Slay (Treasurer), and Kayla Mitchell (Secretary). Associate Dean and Professor April Dawson is the faculty advisor for the organization. The newly established Law and Technology Student Organization was created to guide students in utilizing NCCU's resources in the legal technology field and to build a community of students and professors interested in the intersections of law and technology. The Organization sponsors talks and study groups, organizes events for faculty and student fellows, and addresses questions about career options. In addition, the Organization provides guidance regarding the wealth of opportunities in the law and tech space around the country and hosts social events for students and faculty affiliated with the TLPC Program.
This organization has sponsored or co-sponsored the following events:
The Law & Technology Student Organization also advertises and takes group trips to the Association of Corporate Counsel Lunches in Cary; advertises and attends the Duke Tech Policy events at their law school; launched its technology newsletter for students to have an opportunity to write, with the first issue coming soon; and hosts social events like the bowling outing last week to develop bonds and answer any questions students have about any areas of practice or technology law.
