Social Justice

Access to Justice

“Equal justice under law is not merely a caption on the facade of the Supreme Court building; it is perhaps the most inspiring ideal of our society. It is one of the ends for which our entire legal system exists. It is fundamental that justice should be the same, in substance and availability, without regard to economic status." - Justice Lewis Powell, Jr.

The ability to obtain competent legal assistance can undoubtedly change lives. Removing the barriers and clearing the pathway to justice for marginalized communities takes a concerted effort on the parts of lawyers, lawmakers, and changemakers at all levels. The resources in this section of the guide aim to explore how education, funding, mobilizing, and accountability all work together to increase access to justice.
