Accommodations Flyer Easy as 1-2-3!

Accommodations Process

Students with disabilities (physical, learning, psychological, chronic or temporary medical conditions, etc.) who would like to request reasonable accommodations and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act, including, but not limited to testing accommodations, must register with the Office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) in Suite 120 in the Student Services Building. The SAS office can be contacted at 919-530-6325 or by email sas@nccu.edu. Students who have already registered with SAS must renew previously requested accommodations each semester through Eagle Accommodate. Eagle Accommodate will notify students and their professors of the accommodations. However, Eagle Accommodate does not provide the Office of the Law Registrar with a copy of student accommodations letters.

How to Apply for Services:

https://nccu-accommodate.symplicity.com/

Students requesting services from SAS for the first time can submit a request online through Eagle Accommodate. Students who already receive accommodations will need to login to their Accommodate Student Portal and submit a Returning Semester Request.

How to Notify the Law School of Your Approved Accommodations:

As outlined in Section 1.10-05 of the NCCU School of Law Student Handbook and in the monthly accommodations flyer sent out to all law students, to receive accommodations on law school assessments and exams, students must register their accommodation with the law school by submitting a copy of the approved SAS accommodations letter to the Office of the Law Registrar using the following SOL Notification Form or by selecting the Accommodations Notification tab in MyLaw. The form must be submitted no later than five business days prior to the examination period for which the student is seeking accommodations. At the bottom of the form, there is an option to receive a copy of the submitted form. This will serve as the student’s proof of submission in the event there is an issue. Students may also take a screenshot of the completed submission page for further documentation of the submission. Please note students should not email their accommodation letter directly to the Law Registrar.

The Office of the Law Registrar will review all student accommodation letters upon submission and will notify students within five business days of receipt. Students who do not receive an acknowledgment within five days of submission should contact the Office of the Law Registrar and provide documentation of the submitted form.

Accommodations will not be provided unless proper notification is given as required.  Students who do not register their accommodations with the Office of the Law Registrar, as provided above, at least five business days before the exam period will not receive testing accommodations. The student must comply with the law school’s procedures to ensure that the rooms can be properly assigned according to the student’s accommodation letter, proctors can be secured, professors can be notified, and times can be adjusted in Examplify, if necessary. Please be mindful of the five-business-day deadline for testing accommodations, as it will be strictly enforced.

The notification form can be accessed at the following locations:
