Student Services

Who Can Borrow?

The following groups may borrow from NCCU Law Library:

  • Current faculty, students, and staff at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) may borrow materials using their NCCU University ID card.
  • Current faculty, students, and staff affiliated with the Triangle Research Libraries Network (TRLN), University of North Carolina (UNC) system schools, and North Carolina community colleges may use their school identification card to register for borrowing privileges. Any visitors to the Law Library, including TRLN institution members who would like to borrow from us directly, must check in at the first floor security desk and follow the visitor policies outlined below.

Law Library Visitors:

Visitors are library patrons who are not currently NCCU students, staff and faculty. Alumni are classified as visitors and must adhere to the guidelines for visitors like all members of the public. Visitors may use library materials inside the law library only. Our Visitor Policy page has more information for anyone wanting to visit the Law Library. All visitors must adhere to the Law Library's Conduct and Resources Policies.

Which Materials Circulate?

Circulating Materials

The loan period for most circulating materials is 30 days. Students must have their Banner ID number or their Eagle Card in order to check out materials.

Non-Circulating Materials

Materials on the first floor of the library (state materials, reporters, etc.); loose leaf materials, and serials do not circulate. If you are unsure if the item you want can be checked out, please ask at the Service Desk.

Reshelving Books

Please bring items that need to be re-shelved to the Service Desk or place items on designated carts or in the library bookdrop, found to the left of the Service Desk. Please hand all reserve and technology items directly to a staff member at the Service Desk.

Renewing Books

  1. Books may be renewed online by logging into MyAccount.  If you've never used MyAccount before, take a look at the tutorial.
  2. Patrons may renew their books by emailing the Law Library at lawlibrary@nccu.edu and providing barcodes for individual books, along with your Banner ID number.
