Librarian's Role

This resource guide is not intended to provide legal advice or counsel.
Your law librarians are available to help with any questions you might have locating and using resources, but they cannot give legal advice per N.C. General Statute

Library Staff Can:

  • Help you locate specific resources or categories in the catalog,
  • Instruct you on how to use the law library resources for your research,
  • Direct you to a list of legal assistance organizations that may be relevant to your research.

Library Staff Cannot:

  • Do legal research for you,
  • Recommend a legal course of action or suggest winning strategies,
  • Interpret the meaning of a court order, law, or federal or local rules,
  • Tell you which forms you may need or where to file them.
